Highland Park is extremely convenient to almost everything one could desire. With its proximity to Loop 1 or MoPac, one can get to downtown Austin or to Round Rock in short order. Those who want a short commute to downtown Austin will find it here, even without the use of Loop One. A cross-over to the east or west side of Highland Park on Hancock Drive eliminates the need for using Northland, with its stoplights and frontage road traffic.

Highland Park has a number of restaurants close by. A grocery store, a bank, florist, dry cleaners, and gas station are located in the shoppping area flanking Highland Park. Not to be forgotten are two coffee places: Starbucks, and Russells, which is a locally owned favorite. An old strip shopping area near Russells has an upholstery shop, an alterations shop, and many other business establishments.
Highland Park West Schools
Highland Park has an outstanding elementary school that many young residents can easily walk to. Highland Park Elementary. Lamar Middle School is located in Allandale, a short distance away. McCallum High School serves Highland Park and is a magnet school.
