On the eastern bank of the Colorado River and Lake Austin is that area of Austin considered West Austin. Old fishing cabins built in the early 1900s are now on some of the most expensive land in Austin. A few of these cabins remain, buried under layers of additions and remodels. This area of Austin is considered to include subdivisions that extend to Northland Drive on the north, and anything on the west side of the old Missouri Pacific railroad, which is now Loop 1 or MoPac. (2222) Lady Bird Lake forms the natural boundary on the south end. Also included are subdivisions that are west of Lake Austin and south of Lake Travis.
