Castle Hill Homes

Homes in Castle Hill were built beginning in the late 1800s. Most have been remodeled and a very few have been restored. Sadly, many have seen the wrecking ball with some apartment buildings taking their places. Today homes in Castle Hill continue to increase in value because of their closeness to downtown Austin.

Castle Hill Conveniences

The location of Castle Hill is probably one of the best for anyone desiring an actual house while being extremely close to downtown. Whole Foods world headquarters with its showcase grocery store is easily reached by walking. Book People, if not the largest, one of the largest independent bookstores in Texas, is just east of Lamar. And in the heart of the Castle Hill-Clarksville neighborhoods, the historic Naus Pharmacy is still in operation, complete with their soda fountain that draws lunch-goers for a casual and tasy meal.

Castle Hill Schools

Castle Hill has one elementary school located on West Lynn. Matthews Elementary’s mosaic sign that runs along the retaining wall testifies to the artsy neighborhood residents who take pride in this school. Middle school students can attend O Henry Middle School which is located west of MoPac in the Deep Eddy neighborhood along Exposition Boulevard. High school students can attend Austin High, which is south of Castle Hill almost on the banks of the Colorado River and Lady Bird Lake.
